Today's Phrase That Pays Goes To...
I used to have to lock myself away in my house, get pretty drunk and write a drunk diary - and that was the first time I could admit things to myself. A drunk tongue is an honest one in my opinion and the next morning I would read it through with an awful hangover and, in the cold light of day, had to absorb my feelings about myself. I was a bit scared that I wouldn't be articulate enough.Love her honesty! I think that's why her music resonates across music genres.

Ashanti Is Coming! Do You Care?!?!?
By the looks of this pic, we should be...WHEW! Somebody is looking rather SICK (in a good way) if I may say so myself!
This promotional shot (photographed by Robert Ector) was released of R&B star Ashanti yesterday, and it appears that after hitting the studio working on new material and a few appearances here and there, we might get to hear some new music from the star.
I'm sure there are folks out there who may utter the words: Ashanti's time has come and gone. But PLEASE don't forgt her place in music. She dominated the charts for quite some time before her hiatus. I'm excited to hear new music from her!
Are you???

Will L.A.Reid Bring Over Mariah, JLo, Pink And Ciara To The Epic Label Group?
Although it hasn't officially been announced that Antonio "L.A." Reid is the new Epic Label Group head, he has been almost a regular fixture around the halls of the Sony Music Entertainment building as of late.
L.A. Reid is known for his powerful influence in the music industry from being an A&R to most recently leaving Island Def Jam in March to join Simon Cowell’s The X Factor as a judge. And now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Mr Reid will try his hardest and use his influence to bring over the likes of Mariah, JLo, Pink, Ciara and even Usher to the Epic Label Group.
......there’s already been talk of big plans, like possibly bringing Mariah Carey (a Columbia artist from 1990 to 1999) and Jennifer Lopez (signed in 1999, "parted ways" with Epic in 2010) back into the Sony fold. Both were among Reid’s pet projects at Island Def Jam, the former selling upwards of seven million albums under his watch, and the latter riding a comeback wave that began with her RedOne-produced single, “On The Floor” (a judging gig on American Idol didn’t hurt). Also worth noting: Lopez’s manager Benny Medina is a close friend of Reid’s. And, of course, there have been persistent rumors of Carey appearing on X Factor in some sort of mentoring capacity. Of course, getting these pop divas out of their respective deals would likely prove a tricky endeavor, but not an impossible one. After all, Morris’ (Doug Morris - CEO of Sony Music Entertainment) post-Universal Music Group “no poaching” clause applies to staff, not artists, although where the former is concerned, there are plenty of Reid loyalists eager to make the jump to Epic. At the same time, Jive-RCA staffers are eyeing Barry Weiss' fiefdom over at Island Def Jam-Universal Motown Republic Group, as the industry continues its seemingly endless game of musical chairs. To that end, earlier chatter of certain multi-platinum artists heading Reid’s way may have been premature. It looks as if RCA will inherit the bulk of Jive’s marquee artists, including Pink (who was discovered and mentored by Reid) and Britney Spears, while Reid will be handed Ciara and, according to a source, “take care of Usher.”Innneresting shake-up in the music industry coming our way.

E Street Band Member Clarence Clemons Passes Away + Bruce Springsteen Offers Words
E Street Band member Clarence Clemons, who suffered a stroke last week, lost his battle after suffering from complications from it on Saturday.
Longtime pal and band mate Bruce Springsteen offered the following words on his Web site.
"Clarence lived a wonderful life. He carried within him a love of people that made them love him. He created a wondrous and extended family. He loved the saxophone, loved our fans and gave everything he had every night he stepped on stage. He was my great friend, my partner, and with Clarence at my side, my band and I were able to tell a story far deeper than those simply contained in our music," says Springsteen. "His life, his memory, and his love will live on in that story and in our band."So sad!
Clarence was lastly featured in Lady GaGa's video "The Edge of Glory".

Singer Tamia Announces Fall Album Release!
Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Tamia will be making a comeback this fall with the release of her forthcoming album entitled, Beautiful Surprise, confirmed by her publicist via Twitter. This will be Tamia's fifth studio album, and it will serve as a follow-up to her 2006 project, Between Friends. Though details for the project are still limited, fans can expect the R&B vocal powerhouse to stick with her known sound and style. In an interview in late 2010, Tamia confirmed that we will be hearing love ballads that we've all grown to love as classics. As of now, confirmed contributions for the album include Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, The Runners, Chuck Harmony, Claude Kelly, and Carvin Haggins & Ivan Barias. Recently, songwriter Claude Kelly talked with TheBoomBox.com in regards to his contribution to the record. “Tamia of course is a veteran with a great voice,” he says. “She’s doing R&B but we are taking it up a notch. I wrote some really classic R&B songs for her that I’m really proud of.”For those that aren't aware, Tamia is a SERIOUS ISSUE in the music biz! But more often that not, singers of her caliber and talent never get their just due!
I'm beyond excited about this news! Bring real music back, Tamia!

New Music: Britney Spears “Till the World Ends” Ft. Nicki Minaj And KE$HA
Dancers, do yourself a favor and PLEASE get into Britney Spears' REMIX for “Till the World Ends” featuring Nicki Minaj and KE$HA (the writer of the song).
And HUNNNNNTIIIII, Onika Miraj went INNNNNNNN (must give credit where credit is due)!
“Chimpanzees is hatin’, but I take it all in stride/ Put her in a jungle with bananas on the side/ Told you they’d revive your career, but somebody lied/ I ain’t talkin’ poultry when I say this chicken’s fried”In all seriousness, my prayer (YES, I said prayer) is that Nicki and Lil Kim just make a song together. How long are we gonna drag this beef out? Just curious.
Peep the goods under the break.....
